OAI Awarded NWFSC Fish Ecology Division Quantitative Analysis Support Task Order
Ocean Associates, Inc. (OAI) is proud to announce that we have been awarded the NOAA Fisheries Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC), Fish Ecology Division Quantitative Analysis Support Task Order!
Through this award, OAI will provide specialized quantitative analysis and scientific support at the NWFSC in Seattle, WA, helping address the growing data and analytical needs of modern fisheries management. Our work will contribute to the management, recovery, and sustainable harvest of marine and anadromous species throughout the Pacific Northwest and California.
Our team will support a wide range of important scientific efforts, including:
- 📊 Advanced Modeling & Statistics — Developing spatial-temporal models, supporting stock assessments and mark-recapture analyses, and advancing tools such as the COMPASS model and Northwest Salmon Life Cycle Models.
- 🐟 Predation & Ecosystem Research — Evaluating trophic interactions and quantifying predation pressure from birds, marine mammals, and invasive fish species on Pacific salmon.
- 🌊 At-Sea Data Modernization — Helping transition field surveys to digital workflows, integrating eDNA sampling protocols, and automating ship-to-shore data pipelines to accelerate research and analysis.
- 💻 Open Science & Transparency — Developing reproducible analytical pipelines using R, Python, and GitHub, along with interactive data dashboards that help transform complex scientific information into management-ready products.
This work will help ensure fisheries managers and decision-makers have access to timely, high-quality science to support conservation, recovery, and sustainable fisheries.
We are excited to continue supporting NOAA Fisheries and the Northwest Fisheries Science Center in Seattle and are proud of the OAI team whose expertise and hard work made this award possible!
